Love it or hate I don't mind as long a you read it

Journal Entry: Fri Apr 20, 2012, 2:03 PM
I will now do all my best to support the cause of people with Social Anxiety Disorder. This is a cause that is really important to me, since my mother and many friends suffered of this illness. I, myself, have Anxiety Disorder and Bipolarity and I'm still fighting to live a normal life. Fortunately, I've recently had help and I'm getting better as the days pass. Living with Anxiety Disorder is really difficult. Most people will never get the help they need, or be laugh at by people who don't understand what they are going through. I was also surprised to see many people I look up too who also have mental illness. You are not alone. Stay strong, stay positive, even though it's hard. You can make it!

Thanks for sharing that with us, it's a huge mental boost to see that your not alone living with that problem, You see I was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder when I was 15, and ever since I've been fighting a fight against myself not being able to accept it. Thanks so much like I said for sharing it helps in so many ways.

You have yourself a great night/day

That would be a great Idea, It's easy living with a mental illness and having people making fun of you because they dont understand why your acting like this all of a sudden, I would love it if you could check out this pic from my gallery and tell me what you think. heres the link: [link] . It's a picture I made during my time at La Cité Collégiale for a project on Surrealiste but for me it's a everyday thing....

Thanks a lot for replying :)

Thank you for this personal Journal I know someone with a disorder but for confidentiality reasons can’t discuss it on this site. In some ways I understand what you’re experiencing.

If you ever want to write some D&D as opposed to just playing the game send me an email maybe we can meet up some place one day.

I know its illegal in most places but have you tried cannabis, my mom is bipolar, she used to smoke cannabis, when she would remain calm more often then not and would have less outrages.

You're not alone. Many of us have similar issues. But if there is a silver lining in this video, it is to see how these people overcame their fear in a very public way. Thank you so much for posting.

Keep up the fight. It does get better with time. I have been dealing with Panic Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder for 10 years and over time it can be an asset to your life and art in ways you might not expect. You're right, many people do not understand and most likely never will but awareness and understanding can hopefully bring some much needed alleviation to those who need it most.

Well, I can only speak for myself, but dealing with these issues has put new perspectives on life for me. When you are fighting the dark, gritty, difficult days it is possible to embrace beauty from the pain. And when a really good day comes it means so much more. Also, the things people take for granted daily are ones you can find amazing art in and focus on until others see it too. People pass over what they think is mundane because they take it for granted. When you know what anxiety attacks and bipolar swings are, what the feeling of true fear is, you appreciate much more.

Hope that isn't too vague. In time difficulties can be transformed. There is a reason so many amazing artists have struggled with mental disorders. It makes you look at the world differently.

Great message! :) Acknowledging the illness and really wanting help are probably the biggest hurdles! My sister had anxiety disorder and it can be pretty debilitating. :( :)

I support this too! I've Panic disorder (a.k.a panic syndrome) and i make treatment for a few years now. It's really a very difficult situation that hinders in many aspects, especially in social life. Talking about it with other people experiencing similar problems is very good. Count on me.

You're welcome. It's pretty cool your initiative to bring this subject to here. Few people really understand this, and it is great to help others by sharing our own experiences.
Yes, it's a constant battle, but having to deal with this disorder, i was able to learn a lot about myself, and i keep discovering more and more.

How do you deal with it, if I can ask?

Sure. Well, the first step for me was realizing that I need help from people close to me. No matter how strong you are or believe to be, sometimes you will reach your limits and will not be able to control it. Need the help of others is part of learning how to control yourself. Seek professional help is indispensable, of course. The next step was to learn to identify the symptoms when i'm panicking, and how to control this, through breathing.
I also try to relieve stress in some way before it triggers seizures. I found that walking helps me to empty my mind. So I think everyone should try to identify what may help them to calm down. And much more things, like art, help me to face this "illness".

I know exactly what you're talking about...I have a friend who is bipolar too, and at first it was really difficult for him as well, but with help and support he's been able to move forward and he's doing great right now, plus, in a way, we all have a certain mental disorder, some in greater amount than others, some are in more control of it, others get lost in it, and those are the ones who need most help...But you are right though: We are never alone, none of us. I just hope you can remain strong yourself, and with your help many more will follow, so keep it up!
